"It happens a lot at ICARO! Among other things Alexander Meschuh – acro specialist – reinforces the team around Wolfgang Kaiser for a short time. Possibly Xandi also already gave direction to the development of the INCANTO. The INCANTO was one of the positive surprises of this testival!
Designer Michael Nesler realised a new technical innovation: small in the bottom sail integrated openings (in the form of triangles) right below the leading edge are open during launch and improve launch characteristics profoundly. These „Performed Airintake Flaps“ lean on the bottom sail in flight and reduce cell openings to the small size of a DHV 2 or DHV2-3 wing.
And really: the launch characteristic of the INCANTO is especially easy for a glider with an impressive aspect ratio of 5,65!
In the air the INCANTO shows its other, sportive face and the experienced pilot can fully exploit its awesome handling and thermal flight characteristics. The INCANTO shows a perfectly balanced and precise thermalling and gives a DHV 2 feeling with the security of the DHV 1-2 class. This also because the wing is the fastest wing in the testival – in trimm speed as well as accelerated.
Also in rough conditions the INCANTO gives a reassuring feeling to its pilot but if the conditions get really worse the INCANTO wants an active flying pilot – since the leading edge can get weak sometimes and the INCANTO has to be curbed a bit if it pulls forward.
Among rapid descending manoeuvres the big ears are especially useful. Easy and with high efficiency! The spiral with the INCANTO makes a lot of fun and is easy to control and to dose.
A great DHV 1-2 wing at the upper end of this class. In particular qualified for XC pilots because of its high speed range and amazing thermal flight characteristics."
